Home Visit

We have our first home visit scheduled for July 7th...pray please...I will TRY not to panic over the small details!! That day she will be interviewing both Mike and I together as well as talking with the kids about the adoption. She will also be doing a home inspection as well as much paperwork. We will then have an appointment in her office probably sometime the week after, for Mike and I to have seperate interviews with her. I really like our social worker and feel very comfortable with her...exactly what we prayed for!

A Big Day

Wow...today was a big day for us in our process...well maybe not that big, but to us it was. We were at our bank today for a long time. We formally assigened Power of Attorney to a wonderful God honoring team in our child's country and we also sent our first money wire to our child's country...big deal to us! This means...we are in, unless the Lord...we are in for an Eastern European adoption :) Pray, Pray, Pray!

Bring Him Home Wreaths

In the next couple weeks, I will be making and selling wreaths to raise money for our adoption. We have a seperate adoption account and all profit will go straight into that account. Each one will be made with tender loving care. The wreaths will be posted on both facebook and here on my blog. I just thought it would be a neat idea for those who have supported our adoption to have a wreath to hang on their door in honor of our son until we bring him home. I am in need of basic round wreaths, yarn and felt if anyone is looking to clean out closets :) Please do not feel obligated to purchase a wreath. Our main need continues and will always be prayer.

Common questions answered...

How much longer?

This is a common question we are getting. International adoption is a lengthy process. We were hoping to have our son by the end of the year. Now that our country will be closing next month, we will probably travel between the end of this year and the start of next...just depending on how long they close for. We are resting that the Lord's timing is perfect.

Who will travel and for how long?

Both Mike and I once invited, will travel to country. We both have to stay a couple weeks until our son is located and we go to court...both parents have to be at court. After court, there is a 10 day waiting period in which one or both of us will stay...the other may go home. After the 10 day waiting period there are other procedures that have to be done in country before we can leave. So one or both of us will live in an apartment there for about 4-5 weeks. This will be the hardest part of the process for me, leaving behind my other 4 babies.

Where are you in the process now?

Because of the upcoming closure, we have been advised to hold off on some paperwork since it will expire in a short amount of time...we have been advised to get passports which we have done. Complete our homestudy which we are finishing up. We are currently taking online international adoption classes for our homestudy and waiting on states and people to submit things back to our social worker so she can do write her report. We really like our social worker and are thankful for her. We were also told to go ahead with getting immigration approval...immigration approval consists of sending in our completed home study to immigrations, fingerprinting (yet again), and more paperwork...

How you can pray today

What we need most from our family in Christ is prayer. Pray specifically for these things

1. For our son and his friends that their bellies would be full and that the Lord would direct loving people into their paths.

2. Our country is closing for adoptions the middle of next month...pray they reopen quickly and that no major changes will take place effecting us.

3. That we would be able to get some needed information on our son.

4. For wisdom and clear thoughts in decision making.

5. That the Lord would receive much glory!

We are back...

We have been in GA for 2 weeks visiting family and arrived home late last night. So very thankful to the Lord, yet again, for travel mercies. We were welcomed home by finding our passports and some immigration forms had arrived. Prayer Request...we found out while in GA that our child's country will be closed for adoptions starting next month (this was no suprise...we knew this was coming) ...we are not sure as of yet when they will reopen...rumor is about 3 months...could be sooner or later. They are changing over authority of who handles their adoptions....please pray the closure will be quick and that there will be no new laws put into place that will effect us.
